School Budget Information & Advocacy

Dear Fort Edward School District Residents:

The Fort Edward Union Free School District is facing some very unique financial challenges presented by the impending reassessment of the property on which the General Electric Dewatering Facility previously operated. These financial challenges will not only affect the 2017-18 school budget and individual school tax bills, but will have a very real potential to be reoccurring for the foreseeable and long range future.

We appreciate the 80+ residents who attended the public information presentation on March 29, 2017. If you were unable to attend, please see the PDF of the presentation attached below. The presentation covered:

  • Historical circumstances that have created these challenges
  • Current fiscal situation and contributing factors
  • District efforts to reduce the effect on the local taxpayer
  • District efforts to reduce the effect on student programming
  • Potential short and long term effects on the students, school, and community
  • Suggestions for school advocacy

I strongly encourage and sincerely hope that you will attend our Board of Education meetings and visit this webpage in the future to stay up-to-date on factual information regarding the school district budget.

Thank you for your continued support of our students, school, and the Fort Edward Community.

Respectfully,

Daniel A. Ward
