Rich with historical and recreational sites, the town of Fort Edward is located on the West border of Washington County, NY, and is the county seat. The town of Fort Edward has a village named Fort Edward that lies within it.

To the west is the Hudson River, to the north is the Champlain Canal and even farther north are the Adirondack Mountains.

Fort Edward was one of the largest British military forts in the colonies during the French and Indian War. It was also strategically located on the military trail during the Revolutionary War.
